How to Treat Eleven Lines

If you have deep "Eleven Lines" between your eyebrows, or maybe even the a Hundred and Eleven Lines, it can certainly add years to your look.

Over the years, I have heard many women who are interested in healthy living, but they reluctantly get Botox because they did not want to see these lines.

If you are struggling with this area, I do have a couple natural recommendations for you. (If you want to see how to apply these solutions, check out this Instagram video.

But first, you may be wondering why this can't just be solved with skincare. So let me back up and explain that a bit...

With your face, there are essentially three levels:

1. Bone structure of your face
2. Muscle and fascia
3. Skin to cover and protect

To bring this home, I want you to think of something like a fabric couch. If you took it apart, you would see a wooden frame (like the bone structure), the support (muscle and fascia) and then the fabric on top (like the skin).

If you have ever owned a fabric coach you know that one area can get worn down faster than the others. When this happens, you can't just adjust the fabric, you have to try to rearrange the support underneath.

The same is true with the area between eyebrows. If the stuffing in a couch gets lumpy or compressed, it affects how the fabric lays. Similarly, muscle tension or weakness beneath the skin affects how lines appear.

To smooth out the 'filling' underneath, you need to both relax overactive muscles and support weakened ones—which often means retraining movement in this area.

 How to Treat:

There are a couple natural solutions that I have found to be effective, so I want to share them with you. Before I apply either one of these, I always grab my gua sha stone and smooth out the area to prepare the forehead. I use the stone to create an "X" shape between the eyebrows, then smooth it out with the flat side.

Next, let's retrain the muscles:

Face Tape

You can purchased Kinesiology Tape and apply it to your forehead to smooth out the eleven lines. This requires that you cut the tape in the shape of your forehead.

There are PLENTY of social media videos with younger ladies who show you how to cut the tape in the shape of a diamond and put that between your eyebrows. Please don't do this! You will notice that this activates other wrinkles near the temples. So the tape needs to cover your forehead.

Silicone Patches

Honestly, I was pretty 'meh' about silicone patches after trying two brands. They seemed to come off at night or not really be effective.

But, when I tried the third brand, Wrinkles Sminkles, I started to see the reason why women love them. They hold the forehead in place very well and when I wake up, it is still on my face, rather than my pillow!

While these tools don't change the muscle or fascia directly, they help to train your face to relax and prevent deepening of expression lines.
